Sri Bharatamata

Welcome to Hindubharat !

Dear spiritual seekers,

This website contains Sanskrit mantras (a syllable, word, or verse) to nurture peace, happiness, and harmony—based on ancient Indian wisdom imparted by wise teachers and spiritual gurus (rishis/seers/sages) through oral tradition over many millennia. Many of these mantras contain qualities unique only to India.

Humans have long understood the power of words, not just for communication but also for healing and “high-minded” purposes. Words hold meaning but they also have tremendous power on how we think and act. We have all experienced how our thoughts, emotions, moods, and behavior can be dramatically altered by the kind and thoughtful or cruel and careless of words. No one is immune. That’s one reason it’s so important to fill your mind, body, and spirit with conscious and constructive words into your being.

Mantras come in many forms and are found in many different languages. In Hinduism, all mantras are in Sanskrit, considered by many to be the oldest language on the earth and a Divine language. Skeptics try to dismiss mantras as gibberish, but everyone from scientists to spiritual leaders have attested to their power. They can change your life.

Mantra is a Sanskrit word, in which "man" means mind and "tra" means to repeat. You can find mantras for almost anything: fulfilling wishes, relieving stress, healing, love, success, and more. And mantras mean different things to different people, cultures, and religions.

In Hinduism, the word mantra immediately conjures up images of gods and goddesses. Most of the deities have 108 mantras, and some main gods like Siva, Vishnu, Ganesh, Durga, and Laxmi also have 1,000 mantras each. The mantras describe their form, glory, attributes, virility and pastimes.

Unlike other websites with mantras about gods, goddesses, and deities, this website is entirely inspired by my mother India. Who doesn't love their mother? Most people don’t think about the fact that they have three mothers: their birth mother, their mother language, and their motherland. I believe we owe a lot to each and every one of them.

Other than Gandhi and the Taj Mahal, most people know little of India, which has long been labeled as a third world country, populated by impoverished people. But India was once the wealthiest country on Earth, it is currently Asia's biggest democracy, and it has a rich cultural and spiritual heritage.

India is a colorful and complex culture with many fascinating languages, traditions, festivals, rituals, and teachings. It is no wonder the culture is spreading in the west, aided by a long list of Bollywood actors and actresses, musicians, self-help gurus, and swamis as well as yoga and meditation masters.

Teaching centers are popping up on every street corner in big cities, and that’s a good thing. Many people are experiencing stress due to economic, political, technological, and social strains. My hope is that this website will serve as a place of calm for your body, mind, heart, and spirit.

Subham bhooyat (Be all auspicious),
